Um, the youth vote DID turn out in higher numbers than they did in the last election, according to the breakdowns I've seen. Obama just didn't do as well in NH; honestly considering the nature of New Hampshire it's impressive he came in second and clobbered Edwards by such a margin.

Honestly, this whole "lecturing the youth" thing kind of annoys me. There are plenty of OLD people sitting on their duffs too, y'know.

Yes, I am really sick of being condescended to as either a "young voter" or a "woman voter." I turned 18 in 2000, so this is my third presidential election. I'm familiar with the whole voting thing, and I don't want anyone making assumptions about how I'm going to vote based on my age or gender, or worse, pandering to me because of my age or gender.

Man, you have it a LOT worse than I do. Nobody on the liberal side tells you "Hey! You have a penis! Vote for this guy! He likes your penis, and we don't mean he's a homosexual, not that there's anything wrong with that or it should any way influence your vote!"

I'm considering crawling under a rock and coming out the day before the election so I can just vote and get it over with.

That might be reasonable, otherwise some twit on Super Tuesday might stick a microphone in your face and ask if you voted for Hillary because you were a woman.

If in the unlikely event I'm interviewed, I'm thinking of saying that I didn't vote for Hillary because I'm a woman...yet.

We were watching the CNN coverage last night, and someone mentioned in a report that the South Carolina primary will be interesting because 50% of the Democrats are African-American. One of the talking heads said, "Yes, but that then means that the other half is probably white. That's something that should be taken into consideration." Then it lead to a discussion in my house about what is someone supposed to do if she is a black female voter, since they keep putting people into a single category...

This morning CNN was saying, "Well maybe African Americans in South Carolina will vote for Clinton since the Clintons do well with African-Americans. Or, maybe they'll vote for Obama, since he is an African American." That was it; that was the enite discussion about voting in South Carolina.

Um, my bad, I didn't know black people in South Carolina weren't allowed to vote on people based on their VIEWS. Honestly! The whole discussion seemed so narrow to me.

Umm, shouldn't they have at least mentioned that John Edwards is from South Carolina and used to represent a neighboring state in the Senate?

Yes, they should have!!! It was frustrating to hear. Although, I only had it on for about 10 minutes, so in fairness, it could have been discussed later.

Seems unlikely, based on the several hours of CNN I watched last night. It was all like that, and honestly, NPR wasn't much better.

well, south carolina doesn't have as long a history of bucking the trend as new hampshire does, so it might really boil down to just that.
