At my brother's wedding all the guests were given a little cutting of some sort of evergreen tree, which they were asked to plant. I haven't the foggiest where I should do this. Does anyone know a place nearby where it would be legal and easy for me to plant it?

You'd want to make sure you knew the type of tree before you planted it around here, though. I don't know if any evergreens are considered invasives in Massachusetts, but I'd be surprised if none is. Even if you see other trees like it around, you still want to check; Norway Maples are everywhere, for example, and they're invasive.
