A question to the veteran residents

Last night I hit the SomeDay Cafe again, just to hang out and try to be creative. The atmosphere there is, I have observed, very mellow and laid-back. As much as I adore the place, it does not appear to be the type of place where someone will go up to you and say, "Hey, whatcha readin'?" or "Wow, that's quite an interesting comic strip you're drawing!" or something like that.

Now... I'm new to living in Davis Square, and I'm all about meeting new people and getting into conversations with interesting strangers. Y'know, like they do in the movies. ^_^

Can anyone suggest a place that's good to meet new faces and such?

Davis Memorial unveiling & vigil on 9/11

Please join Mayor Dorothy Kelly Gay on September 11th at 7:30 p.m. for a candlelight vigil in remembrance of our national tragedy. This vigil will provide a moment for us to reflect on the past year while providing unity as Somerville and our nation continue to move forward.

The vigil will begin at the corner of Willow Avenue and the Minuteman Bike Path and proceed down the path to Davis Square. We will then unveil a small memorial dedicated to Somerville's act of community expressed through the shrine that stood on the rose compass last September. Somerville artist Hilary Scott has designed a modest memorial, capturing both the tragedy and our collective expression.

What: 9/11 Candlelight Vigil

Where: Begin at Willow Avenue and the Minuteman Bike Path, then proceed to Davis Square (for those who do not wish to walk, meet at the rose compass at 8 p.m.)

When: September 11th, 2002 at 7:30 p.m.

Candles provided

Mayor Dorothy Kelly Gay,
City of Somerville
