Fake Spare Change Guy in today's Globe City Weekly

Phony vendor pulls fast one on homeless, by Ric Kahn, on the front page of today's City Weekly.

The article refers to our recent DSLJ discussions, and quotes from Homeless Empowerment Project director James Shearer, who says, "It's low. You're robbing the poor."

DARBI Event at Green Tomato

Davis Square residents who run home-based businesses, do freelance work, or telecommute will have an opportunity to meet, exchange ideas, and build community on Tuesday, March 24 at noon at the Green Tomato restaurant on Elm Street. The networking lunch is being coordinated by DARBI, the Davis Area Residents and Business Initiative, and is open to members and nonmembers.

According to DARBI board member Candy Leonard, part of what makes Davis Square so special is that there is this high density, diverse population of interesting people doing interesting things – but because many are freelancers, telecommuters, or operating home-based businesses, they often have only “virtual colleagues” and are quite isolated during the day. DARBI wanted to create the opportunity for these residents to get together for both personal and professional networking.”

The Green Tomato will provide a variety of freshly prepared salads, sandwiches wraps, coffee, and beverages for $5 Leonard continued, “We hoping that residents will appreciate the opportunity to network and enjoy a deliciously prepared lunch – all for five dollars!” For more information or to make a lunch reservation email DARBILunch@gmail.com.

Traffic Lawyer

I'm posting this for a neighbor who is looking for a lawyer to help with a traffic related issue on short notice for a court date on Tuesday. He was pulled over by Massachusetts State police in Concord which is where the hearing will be. I don't claim to completely understand the issues but it's more than appealing a simple ticket and others who know the details think a lawyer would be helpful.

Does anyone have any recommendations?
