I was a regular at Julie's Nails the last year I lived in Davis. I was always very happy there, and even would go back when I made trips to Boston. I'm still searching for a regular place here in NYC that is consistently as good as they are.
However, I was just there over MLK weekend, and had, truly, the worst pedicure of my life. It hurt so much, I was almost in tears. The water was too hot, and when I asked her to make it cooler, she didn't. (My friend, at the next chair over had the same problem, but hers actually did change the temperature.) The woman dug into my toes SO hard and didn't even acknowledge that I was visibly wincing the whole time. Then, when she was "massaging" my legs, she did it so hard I had bruises the next day.
Now, maybe she was new, maybe she was having a bad day, and I hate to rule out an entire place based on one bad experience when I'd had so many good ones previously.
