My roommates are showing my current living space this Sunday (I'm moving out the weekend of the 1st to get my own place). It's a huge loft space - a bit odd temperature-wise (you'll need space heaters in winter and a fan in summer), but tons of room, and only $850/month plus utilities and cable/internet (which generally comes to about $75 a month total, if that). I started my own design studio in that space, and it worked out well.
The only catch is that the landlord and building manager aren't the most attentive, and one roommate is allergic to peanuts and soy, and although she pretends she's okay with having it in the house, she's really really not. But it's an amazing amount of space for what you end up paying for it.
Drop me a line in my LJ if you're interested. There also might be an availability in the building I'm moving to - my landlord mentioned something about one of the tenants looking for a roommate,
