Really? Damn but S & DD owe me a lot of free drinks!! (Don't jump on me, anyone, I only go there in other locales, when there's not another indie coffee shop around.) ... I might be missing something but I'm pretty sure S & DD don't have any programs like that. Though S is generally good to me when it comes to "apology free drink" coupons when somebody messes up my order.
This complaint about the loyalty cards is kind of beyond me. If it's not worth the hassle to you, don't do it. And if all the people were only going to Diesel instead of some other place because they wanted that tenth free drink, stopped going and went to some other coffee shop instead... I kinda think Diesel would still be okay.
Whether or not the charity card system is dumb, I don't see why anybody feels like they're entitled to free drinks from any place and are being cheated by the fact that it went away! If the free drink system was losing them money and they don't need it to attract sufficient business, of course they're going to drop it. Instituting the charity thing instead seems like a nice idea, trying to show that they're still committed to the local community even if they feel they can't afford to keep up the customer loyalty policy. (however ill-thought out the program is, or whatever -- it doesn't bother me but I can see the point of the person below who said they should just donate to charity and not bother with the cards.)
