The Davis Square Task Force will meet on Monday, May 24 from 7-9 PM at the TAB Building, 167 Holland St.

Licensing – representatives of three of the four restaurants granted full liquor licenses for Davis Square in August will make brief presentations (Snappy Sushi, Taipei Tokyo, Out of the Blue); the fourth (Flatbread Co.) has appeared twice previously; Adam Dash, Esq. will present an applicant for a fifth full liquor license for a gourmet oven-made pizza establishment at 187 Elm (Green Tomato site).

4. Task Force in the community caught my eye. Do any of the folks here who are on the DSTF feel the same as the sentiments expressed in the opinion post?

Notes from Monday's Davis Square Task Force meeting

Some notes from Monday's Davis Square Task Force meeting:

( CARLI Fence site: 12 condos proposed .... )

( Antonia's Restaurant and Ten Tables: Problems with liquor licensing ... )

Former Enterprise rent-a-car: The owner, Christos Poutihidis, did not show up for the meeting. Somoene else said that the owner does not want to have another rental car operation, and instead wants to put up a building with commercial use of the first floor and residential use on the second (and possibly more). Mr. Poutihidis also owns the house next door on Cutter Avenue, so it's possible any future development would combine the two lots.

Sacco's Bowl-Haven: Trish Blain didn't have much to report yet. She thought she had a deal to buy Ideal Engine next door, but a member of that family killed the deal. Trish will present her proposal at a public event at Dilboy VFW - Monday night, Feb. 25 at 7 pm.

Dollar Days: Blue Shirt Café is not expanding into this space. Someone said he had heard of seven possible tenants looking at this storefront.

Dover Plaza: A publisher is moving into the space vacated by Share Group. Someone at the meeting said ~~Candlewood~~ Candlewick Press, which is now located a short walk away on Mass. Ave. in North Cambridge.

Dahn Yoga studio: A women's fashion boutique called Suneri is moving into at least part of the space, according to a sign in the window. There is also still a For Rent sign, so it's possible the space is being subdivided.

Sushi restaurant in former La Contessa space: Should open at the end of February ("which may really mean mid-March"). The storefront renovation required more work than expected, including some environmental cleanup.

Next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Monday, April 14.

BTW, does anyone have a pic of the proposed plans? I'd love to see that space turned into something useful, but hopefully something a little more than just 15 condo-boxes in a building with parking spots out front.

The Davis Square Task Force will meet on Monday, December 3 at 7 pm at the Senior Center, 167 Holland Street (Tufts Administration Building). Here's the agenda:

As usual, I didn't take extensive notes, but here's what I remember. (Agenda here.)

( DARBI (Davis Area Resident-Business Initiative) )

The traffic study group is focusing on Willow Avenue, between Elm St. and Highland Avenue. You can read more about their work at http://willave.blogspot.com .

One Davis Square, with CVS and Boston Sports Club, should be open by November.

Nobody quite knows what's going to happen to the former Enterprise rent-a-car site at Summer St. and Cutter Ave.

The Y-Not Variety store, at Willow and Morrison, has applied for a license to sell beer and wine. They have 130 signatures of support from customers. The store will continue to close at 8:30 each night.

The Buena Vista garage repair is nearly complete. The garage will close one more day, Friday October 12, to finish the work.

Next meeting will probably be Monday, December 3.
