boston area dialup ISP?

can anyone recommend an inexpensive boston-area dialup ISP?

how about Hanover, New Hampshire?

a couple friends need some, and i've been on broadband so long that i just have no clue who's in business anymore. no AOL. local provider preferred (because i like supporting local business where possible).

The World (http://www.theworld.com/) is celebrating 15 years this year. Friends have used them for a very long time and are happy with them.

I liked them a lot too until two summer back they lost all my data in a crash and had no backups. While I do keep backups of my own things, I lost a good amount of server-stored mail.

Their service was otherwise good and I only left because I got broadband.

If all you're using them for is dialup -- i.e. to get somewhere else -- I suppose they're fine. But if you actually plan on using their shell or an @theworld.com (@world.std.com) email address, run screaming.

They filter your incoming mail, and when something doesn't make it through their filter, they don't bounce the mail, they bitbucket it. This filtering is non-optional.

Large numbers of my friends have fled The World, after important email never made it to them, and no indication was made to the sender that it didn't get through.
