Single issue voter

Hello,

Can someone tell me who caters least to families, children, and "no turn between 7-9 a.m." signs in the upcoming election?

I see. I love this town for a lot of reasons, but I have never lived anywhere that mollycoddled children like they do here. So much legislative pork.

Well, it's kind of part and parcel with living here. Somerville is, I believe, the city most heavily zoned for residential purposes in America, and I've heard it's pretty close to the highest in terms of residential zoning on Earth. That means a lot of families live here, hence a lot of votes.

Also, running on a "screw the children" ticket would be a hard sell, just guessing.

Did you notice that none of the contested primary elections are for city officials?

Aldermen and mayor have a lot more to do with no-turn signs than state reps and US Senators I'm thinking.

You mean having public schools and crossing guards? That's kind of typical.

I guess it's possible for there to be people out there who hate children and families, but in that case, you're living in the wrong place.

Might I suggest a nice trailer park reitrement community in Florida?

You don't have to pay property taxes to fund public schools in a mobile home in Florida, and with all the grumpy old people around, I'm sure there will be plenty of company for talking about those dang kids these days.

not all people who care for children and look out for their welfare are breeders. some look out for the lives of other people's children and some have children that they did not "breed" themselves. please use language that is designed for conversation if that is what you desire here. if you really do just want to bitch about stuff, by all means go on using inflammatory and biased language.

I had never heard to people referred to as breeders before. You are right. It is inflamatory, and inappropriate for this discussion.

Traffic, usually. It keeps streets from being blocked up by people wanting to turn left into a heavy flow of cars.

It's for traffic management with two purposes of which I aware: to prevent people from using small residential streets as detours and also prevent back-ups behind cars waiting to turn left.

So, for example, you can't turn left onto Kidder from College during certain hours.
