Why no snow emergency?

I've been hearing 4 (or more) inches projected for several days now, and it looks like that's what we'll get. Now I'm curious: why didn't Somerville declare a snow emergency last night? Does it have something to do with the holiday? Does 4 inches need to be declared by a particular forecasting organization? Or have they simply met their revenue projections for January and don't need any more cash?

Hell, the hazardous sidewalks of Somerville (especially on any residential street) are a good example of the glorious civic spirit of Somerville's homeowners.

Well, a little discomfort never hurt anyone. Folks should be able to navigate those sidewalks... if you can't, you're likely elderly, a baby, or terribly out of shape.

... And therefore you deserve it!

Just wondering... :)

Too true. I once slipped and whacked the back of my head, and wandered around the wrong street for awhile looking for my house.
