I don't understand your first comment. What do you mean by "pay to be given the privilege of working for free"??
The only thing you really have to pay if the $20 registration fee. When you think about it, that provides your T-shirt and considering all the free food and swag you get at the event (lots of food afterwards, etc.) it pretty much is free. Its a charity event for a worthy cause, so you are raising money.

What is "working for free"?
