An open letter on zoning from the Somerville Arts Council advisory board

As rents and home prices go into the stratosphere, zoning becomes a way we can keep certain places affordable for certain uses. Here's an open letter the Somerville Arts Council advisory board wrote to the mayor and other politicians about the need to do something to keep creative people in town-- and suggests a few ideas on how to do that with zoning.

bulkhead replacement

The steel bulkhead doors to my cellar are leaking in any heavy rain making the cellar even damper.  Does anyone have a company you have used to repair or replace that you would recommend?  Did you just replace the doors or need to have a new concrete bulkhead?  Any tips on what to ask would be great!  Thanks/

no Fitchburg Line commuter rail service on weekends until Thanksgiving

from the T service alerts page:

Fitchburg Line: Service suspended btwn North Sta & Fitchburg on Sat & Sun thru Nov 23, 2014, (with the exception of Labor Day weekend, Aug 30-31) due to track improvements. No substitute buses provided
So, no weekend trips to Waltham, Brandeis, Lincoln, Concord, the Nashua River Rail Trail, or anywhere else along this line. I'm surprised the T can get away with not providing any substitute bus service to such a large area.
