Trash fines on Monday...

It seems that, while the trash collectors got Monday off, the enforcement staff didn't.

How many people got ticketed for having their trash out a day early? {sigh}

WHAT’S HAPPENING:
Readings by Nicole Terez Dutton, named earlier this year as Somerville’s first Poet Laureate. Her collection of poems, If One Of Us Should Fall, won the 2011 Cave Canem Poetry Prize and was reviewed: “every poem is unsettling in that delicious way that changes and challenges the reader.” Nicole Terez Dutton lives in Somerville and teaches in the Solstice Low-Residency MFA Program.

This event is part of the Learn to Talk social justice series hosted by the Clarendon Hill Presbyterian Church in partnership with the Nave Gallery, and is part of the Embracing Differences: Mending the Isms and the Schisms art exhibition.

Help Needed this Saturday for a Yarnstorm


To promote the Nave Gallery’s Wrap Around Project and the work of the Somerville Homeless Coalition, we are yarn storming trees in Powderhouse Park in Somerville. Each tree has a social justice theme and an individual color scheme.

Theme: Food security; Color scheme: Purples, Greens, Creams, Tans
Theme: Education; Color scheme: Blues and Black
Theme: Housing; Color scheme: Oranges, Reds and Browns
Theme: Community; Color scheme: Browns, Pinks, Creams, Tans

We've begun the installation (stop by and check it out), and need to grow it.  We need help to finish the installation::
