The Paul Duhamel Education Initiative, in its 14th year, will be holding its 5th annual “Walk to Keep Kids in School” walking along the Somerville Bike Path starting at Davis Square on Sunday, June 6, 2010, at 10 a.m. It will be held rain or shine and is sure to be a wonderful event. Paul Duhamel, a Somerville School Committee member, was a positive force in the community and an excellent leader in the area of drop-out prevention. The DEI works to further his efforts by supporting the Somerville Public Schools and those students who are most in need. The Initiative has awarded over $50,000 in drop-out prevention grants to Somerville teachers and also supports after-school and summer programs to support at-risk youth. Please help us better serve the children of our community! The Duhamel Education Initiative meets the third Thursday of every month and hosts several annual fund-raisers. We welcome your interest and are actively looking for new members. This is a great way to support the Somerville Public Schools, meet your neighbors, and get involved with making our City a great place for all. We look forward to hearing from you!
