Sell me your old shit.

My MacBook's power adapter died last night.  Frayed.  I don't want to pay 80 bucks at the Apple store to get a new one right now.  I really just can't afford it, and my laptop is a necessity at the moment.  Currently, I have the end of mine all bent up in a weird way that somehow is holding the ends together enough to charge the laptop, secured into place along the side of the computer with stickers so it doesn't move when I move around or anything.  That's... Pathetic.  If you've got one that works and you don't need it any more, let me know please.  I'm asking in this community because I work and hang out a lot in Davis so I'm there all the time.  I want to pay for this thing and come pick it up at your convenience.  Price probably depends on how old the cable is.  Let me know?  It's the MagSafe (or whatever) one, like this:

It's got this end.

If your macbook is still under warranty/applecare, you should be able to get a free replacement from the genius bar. I did this once, when my power adapter was similarly frayed.

depending on *how* it died, you might be able to get a free one anyway. They are defective and apple knows this. I've gotten or been with people who have gotten a total of like 4 new ones, with and without apple care. Sometimes the magsafes (esp old ones) short out for no reason.

Yeah, you can definitely get somebody at the Apple store to give you one of 'em for free. That's what I did. I also told them how mine was sparking when I plugged it in, and it was obviously fraying, so it was probably dangerous.

But just bat your eyelashes and be polite, and you'll probably have luck.
