recommendation for tailor/seamstress who makes new clothes from old

I am looking for someone who would be able to create a jacket for me based on a jacket I already have. Does this service exist locally? Recommendations please! I already checked the clothing tag, nothing jumped out. Thanks!

If you count Brookline Village as 'local', Sana Belle (http://www.yelp.com/biz/sana-belle-brookline) does custom tailoring similar to this. Their retail clothing is really expensive, though, so I imagine their tailoring is quite costly also.

Contact Jen at bleedingarrow at yahoo dot com. She's in Somerville. She's a professional seamstress and specializes in clothing alteration and does exactly what you want.

Another possibility is Rita Sclavunos in Union Square. She's a seamstress with lots of alteration experience, and she does very good work. She can be reached at thtrecostume at earthlink dot net.

There's also the bid option on Etsy. I'm not sure if you can specify that you want a local person, though.
