Cool Somerville Arts Council events over the next 4 months

The Somerville Arts Council has a lot of great events scheduled over the next four months:

Sat 3/16: Circus Sock Hop at AirCraft Aerial Arts, 14 Tyler St. "an old-fashioned sock hop with a cirque twist"

Sat 3/23 and Sat 4/6: Storied Nights in Somerville at Bloc 11 Cafe. Two spoken word shows that bring together local writers and storytellers.

Wed 3/27: March Salon: The Intersection of Bikes and Art, at the Armory Cafe. "Skunk, Against the Grind, and Bikeyface will lead us on a wheeling adventure that intersects comics, robots, road culture, documentary filmmaking, lasers, blogging, choppers and more."

Sun 4/7: Trash Bash: Somerville's First Recycled Art Competition, in Union Square Event rescheduled and moved -- see 5/19 below

Wed 4/24: April Salon: Intellexploitation: gender, race, and body image in post-exploitation microbudget filmmaking, at the Armory Cafe. "Three first-time feature filmmakers discuss the complexity of tackling sociopolitical messages without regard for mainstream, film-industry expectations in a post-exploitation world."

Fri-Sun 5/3-5: Somerville Open Studios, all over the city. Not an official Arts Council event, but they help support it. Their CVS window display in Davis Square will be devoted to SOS next month.

Sat 5/18: Porchfest. Musicians perform on front porches all over Somerville, all afternoon. You can still sign up.

Sun 5/19: Trash Bash: Somerville's First Recycled Art Competition, at the Armory

Wed 5/22: May Salon: Citizen Journalism, at the Armory Cafe. With Barry Rafkind and Eileen Feldman of SomervilleVoices.org and Jason Pramas of Open Media Boston.

Sat 6/22: Joe's Jazz and Blues Fest, all afternoon in Powderhouse Park.

Fri-Sat 7/19-20: ArtBeat in Davis Square. This year's theme is 'Micro'.

And while I guess it's not technically an Arts Council event as such, it seems wrong not to mention Somerville Open Studios (http://www.somervilleopenstudios.org/) (May 4th and 5th) here.

Not unless you want to count toting Little Bear around to see other people's artwork. :)

Oh, I forgot: I will have a small quilt in the volunteers' show at Bloc 11.
