Jonmon mugshot deleted (by me)
I deleted the jonmon mugshot post. I am only posting this so you know that this was not the result of any threats by jonmon, nor was it removed by LiveJournal or the very tolerant davis-square moderators. If you care, you can keep reading below the cut.
My apologies for posting what appeared to be antagonizing and what was arguably a non-constructive post. In the excitement of having something new that wasn't out there yet, I just posted it. I didn't really have a motive other than "hey, here's something." I figured some people might find it interesting and the rest would ignore it. Emotions are understandably hot today and I didn't really think about it.
Going forward, I'll only post things here if I think it is valuable to the community in a practical way. I'll keep everything else (and there will be more) on twitter. I renamed my twitter account from what was random characters to match my LJ account (so it is now https://twitter.com/ds_crier. It was atrkurha). If I have anything significantly longer than 140 characters to say I'll keep it on my own LJ and link it from Twitter.
The mugshot is still linked from twitter. As for a legitimate use - the only thing I really could think of was that jonmon has a copyright claim over pretty much every photo of him on the internet. This photo (as low quality as it is) is fully public and is a matter of public record, so it can be reproduced by anyone (for all legal purposes) without fear of a cease and desist or copyright lawsuit.
