Theater@First announces auditions for Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap
Theatre@First is proud to announce the upcoming production of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap! Hitting the stage Febuary 27-March 7th. Famous as the longest running play in history (over 25,000 performances in the West End of London alone) we now present the classic murder mystery in Somerville.
But before we have the murder, we need the suspects. Come audition for us! Auditions are by appointment on Tuesday Dec. 2nd and Wednesday Dec. 3rd at Unity Church near Davis Square.
Sign up for an audition slot here: http://www.theatreatfirst.org/shows/mousetrap/auditions.shtml
Auditioners may prepare an optional monologue.
About the Play: A grisly murder has taken place in London; suspect still at large. A young couple ready to start their new lives as host/hostess of Monkswell Manor guest house are warned by police that the murderer is heading their way. With their new guests arriving, a snow storm trapping them inside, and an enterprising detective on skis, the hunt is on to uncover who the murderer is before they have a chance to strike again.
Character Descriptions
(Be advised the show will be done with British accents — not mandatory to do accent at auditions)
Mollie Ralston — A young married woman (20's/30's), kind and compassionate, eager to please her new guests, but haunted by something from her past.
Giles Ralston — Mollie's husband (20's/30's), a touch of arrogance, supportive of his wife, although easy to irritate and a bit of a temper when push comes to shove.
Christopher Wren — An eccentric and energetic young man (20's), who often says whatever is on his mind, occasionally makes strange or off beat remarks and yet also seems to be hiding something.
Mrs. Boyle — A cantankerous older woman (50's/60's), who likes things just so and is not afraid to give her opinion on everything.
Major Metcalf — A former military man (40's/50's), properly mannered and generally pleasant. A calm head in a crisis.
Miss Casewell — A young woman (20's/30's), who is described as being somewhat manish. She has some attitude and is sometimes brooding
Mr. Paravicini — An older man of indeterminate age with a European accent of indeterminate origin. A strange sense of humor and he goes for charming but is more often creepy.
Detective Trotter — A young police sergeant (20's/30's), who takes his job very seriously and is intent on solving this mystery.
