Any other NPR listeners out there?

I heard an interview on NPR recently (the past two or three weeks.... I think) regarding Sarah Palin. The interview was with a Reverend Someone or another was saying that he thought she was qualified to lead the country but not to lead a church because the Baptist interpretation of the Bible says women cannot lead congregations. It was a woman doing the interview.

He was the author of a book with a subtitle that was something like: "What the Left and the Right both get wrong about the war between the church and state" or "What liberals and conservatives are both missing in the debate between the god and government." Clearly my memory isn't what it used to be. I can't even remember what show I was listening to! I do know it was a long interview so it was likely not All Things Considered or Morning Edition.

I want to remember the name of the book. I've tried every flipping search I can imagine on Google and on Amazon. I'm hoping someone out there heard the same interview and can help a poor frazzled mom with a mind like a sieve. I know it's not technically Davis Sq. related, but I figure there are more NPR listeners per square foot than any other town....

Thanks.

NPR.org archives all of their shows, with detailed descriptions. See if you can find it there.

You could probably find it on the NPR website. Is it this one (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=94549426)?

A long-format interview show might have been Talk of the Nation or Fresh Air. On the other hand, it could have been a locally-originated show such as Here and Now or On Point, in which case I'd look at WBUR.org .

Hmmm...was it Jim Wallis, by any chance?

This is the kind of question your local public library reference desk would be happy to help you with.

Email the station where you heard it, or get in touch with NPR's listener services department if it was a nationally distributed show. They'll be able to help you find it. I was an intern in a public radio listener services department, and we got questions like yours all the time.

Also, if NPR/WBUR/whatever's search engine is not proving useful, might I suggest going directly to Google adding site:npr.org or site:wbur.org to the end of your search term? That way it will only show you results that are actually on the specified site.

Maybe...

Would the book be The Divided States of America? What Liberals and Conservatives are Missing in the God-and-Country Shouting Match by Richard Land, by any chance?

Looks like people might have found the book for you, but for future reference, [livejournal.com profile] npr_junkie would be a great place to ask questions like this.
