kids shoe stores (pref. discount)?
Does anyone have recommendations where to shop for sneakers for an 8-year-old, ideally a comfortable bike ride from Davis Square?
Her grandmother sends her shoes regularly, and mostly that's been enough for us, but I think she's at a point where we need to find her something that's a really good fit.
Thanks!

The DSW in Downtown Crossing has worked well for us, and has a reasonable selection of kids' sneakers. Though it's not a full-service store, and if your child will tell you everything fits great when in fact the shoes on their feet are three sizes different from each other...the checkout staff know to make sure there are two matching shoes in the box at least.

Hmm. The lack of service sounds worrying. She's never had her feet sized professionally, and I feel like that would be useful. Maybe I should go somewhere else first and then check them out...

If you want amazing choice and service, perhaps try Shoe Barn in Newtonville. They're not a discount store but might have end-of-season sale items?
