Upcoming event at the Somerville Theater

Thought everyone would like to know about this. This appears to be an event renting the theater as opposed to something the Somerville is coordinating. Figured it might be interesting for some, although I've no plans to go myself at the moment.

That makes sense, I didn't poke around too deeply, I just noticed there was also a California event.

I guess this means no Zombie-Thon 2. Color me disappointed, although it's great the Somerville is showing a print of "Grave of the Fireflies".

Yeah, I have to admit that I was taken aback a bit to see "Fireflies" in with the rest. I would have swapped in "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" or "Perfect Blue", myself.

"The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" is one of my favorite films ever, anime or otherwise. I saw it at an amazing screening at MIT last year.

I caught it recently at the Brattle. SUPERB film, very well done. One of the few animes that I actually like, in point of fact.

I saw Fireflies at a UMass Anime Club meeting back in TEH DAY and wept like a little girl.

Hopefully that movie will be first so the other films will mask my sobbing.

The only one I'd be interested in seeing is Tekkon Kinkreet, since I've never heard of it before. I've seen all the others and really, really don't think I could stand to sit through GitS:Innocence again. I could do Grave of the Fireflies, but only if I had a box of tissues with me.

This looks a really fine list! And I'd love an opportunity to see Tekkon Kinkreet and Grave of the Fireflies again. (Haven't seen Graves since the Ghibli fest at the Brattle about 10 yrs ago.) Wonder what will be "More to Come". I'd do a happy dance if it were the USA premiere of the new Ghibli film "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea".
