5Point Film Festival Celebrates Local
SOMERVILLE, MA (October 28, 2014) – Local art, business, athletes, filmmakers, storytellers, and musicians make a community vibrant and diverse, and the 5Point Film Festival is focusing on celebrating this local flavor at their upcoming Festival November 5 + 6 in Somerville.
“The Somerville and Boston areas are rich with a diverse community of artists, businesses and non-profits.” Said Sarah Wood, Executive Director of 5Point Film. “We are celebrating and showcasing this vibrant part of the community at our event and expect to grow this aspect of the event each year.”
Featured local artists include filmmaker Stebs Schinnerer, visual artist Chris DeLorenzo, DJ Gucci Vuitton, and local non-profit Bikes Not Bombs.

Chris DeLorenzo is a graphic artist and illustrator working out of Boston, Massachusetts. By day he is the lead designer for Johnny Cupcakes, and by night he lends his hand and ideas illustrating for global brands of all kinds. Bikes Not Bombs has been collecting used bicycles in the Greater Boston area for 30 years. These bikes are then sent to international partners in the Global South, or used in local youth programs for skill development, jobs and sustainable transportation. Each year Bikes Not Bombs sends about 3,500 bikes overseas to partners who are using bicycles to drive social change in their communities. Proceeds from the BNB Bike Shop in Jamaica Plain supports Bikes Not Bombs' Youth and International work, and offer free clinics each month.

5Point Film Festival is launching a New England event on November 5 + 6 at the Somerville Theatre with two-nights of over 25 inspiring short adventure documentaries. A full list of films, schedule for the festival and special guests can be found here:

The two day Festival will kick off in Davis Square Plaza November 5th with a celebration and community party featuring local artists, musicians, athletes, and Sierra Nevada beer.
