T question

Sorry to be an idiot, but I can't find this info on the MBTA website - I would swear I have seen it there, but not today.

Approx. how long does it take to get from Davis to South Station on the Red Line, during weekday morning rush hour?

thanks!

15-20 minutes if it nothing breaks down, I'd say.

My own guess would be closer to 20-25, but I admit to being a tad more on the pessimistic side when it comes to estimating travel times. I'd allot half an hour for the trip.

Yeah, I was definitely going with a best-case scenario there.

To the OP, I always take a best-case scenario and double it when planning a trip on the T. :P

Wise policy. I'm not even gonna get into the myriad ways "delays" of unknown duration can happen. :-/

seriously.

no matter where i go, if i need to be there on time i give myself an hour.

Me too!

I'd say around 20 minutes, but give yourself extra time in case a train is delayed...it's always when you have just enough time that something goes wrong.

In general, that part of the Red Line moves 1 station every 2.5 minutes. So, (time until you get a train aside), once on the train, just count the number of stations and multiply by 2.5 to get the expected arrival in minutes.

It's obscurely located the very front page of the web site, right under the main graphic. :) Enter your start and destination stations and the date and time you are curious about.

Davis Square to South Station, arrive by 8:30am on Monday: 21 minutes.

I'd call 21 minutes extremely optomistic at best. Budget for 30 and check the T web site the morning of to check for delays. If things are crowded it can easily take 25 minutes to get to Downtown Crossing.

Davis to South Station?

I always give myself at least 35 minutes during rush hour.

I think this might be what you're looking for: http://mbta.com/rider_tools/trip_planner/

In my experience, Davis to Park Street is about 20 minutes, so Davis to South Station would be about 25.

T-related ?

OK, what time does the last T leave Davis to go towards Boston at night.

I did that ride on the early end of morning rush to catch my Thanksgiving train. We left our house at 6:50, fifteen minute walk to Davis, wait for train, take train, and were in the main concourse at South Station with a comfortable but not excessive margin before our 7:15 train. (So I'd guess the on-the-T portion was about 25 minutes, but it's not like I can precisely remember the duration of T rides at 7am. ;)
