for those readers not members of the Davis BSC, here is how things break down right now:

there are
12 elliptical machines
8 treadmills
8 bicycles (not counting spin bikes)
2 skate machines
4 stairsteppers

the rest of the gym has weights, weight machines, and random other things, plus one studio for classes. there are two areas for stretching.

with the exception of the weight and weight machine areas, every single part of this gym is maxed out in use during peak times and only slightly more available during off-peak hours.

the staff is friendly, the cleaning staff is extra-awesome and hard working.

i, for one, welcome an expansion of the BSC!
while i would like a basketball-like gymnasium for playing around in and a pool, we will take what we can get.

an expansion would allow for
more of the in-demand machines
another studio? this might allow for more variety of classes, two classes at once, or a separate studio for the space-consuming spinbikes
more area for stretching
the ability to not have to step over/around/between people with every move.

What are their monthly dues and signup fees?

this question is a little tougher for me to answer because i can only go with what i've read.

1. i got a super awesome deal when they opened and thus pay about 63 /month

2. i think the going rate is 73 or so per month for a one year or two year commitment

3. you can pay more (like 83 / month) to get a month to month contract with less commitment

4. i think the standard signup fee is 59 dollars or something near to that.

5. but! they often have discounts for this such as after new year, in the fall, in the spring...you get the idea
