Community Theater?

Hey friends:

Do y'all know of any fun, easy-going community theater places in the area? I'm familiar with Theater@First and Google told me about the Footlight Club in JP, but I'm hoping y'all may know of a few more. Closer to the Somerville-ish area is awesome, but if you know of any stuff in the Boston area, that would be fabulous.

Thanks!!

Arlington Friends of the Drama and Longwood Players are two good, fairly nearby groups.

Check out netheater411.com/ for postings of auditions & performances for lots of local groups.

Arlington Friends of The Drama is accessible by bus and is one of the oldest community theatres in the US. If you have a car, The Burlington Players does good stuff.

Post-Meridian Radio Players (Theatre@First's sister organization) does live staged radio plays, if you want something a little different.

I've never been there, but Waltham has the Reagle Players.

Medford has the Mystic Players (http://www.mysticplayers.org/). I used to go some of their productions in Medford Square at the Chevalier Theatre.

A few years ago, there was a local group called The Somerville Players that put on a few amateur theatre shows, including at least one in the Somerville Theatre. I don't know what happened to them. Anyone else know more?

I second the recommendation to check out http://NEtheater411.com for info, and (besides T@F, obviously) can also personally vouch for the awesomeness of the Burlington Players (http://www.burlingtonplayers.org). (Despite seeming far away, it only took me 15 minutes to drive from Davis there for rehearsal, so it worked out really well.)
