artists in need of cold hard steel?

I'm a fencer, and periodically weapons break. Sometimes they're repairable, sometimes not. When a blade snaps, you're left with 2 or 3 useless hunks of steel. It's flexible, good quality stuff, but not useful to me.

I'd rather not throw them out (I doubt that recyclers will take them), if someone can use them to make some form of art, or something... When I lived in Schenetady, I gave them to the college art department, so I figure someone around here must be able to use them...

To follow up, when the OP says "good quality," that's an understatement. One of the common alloys in fencing blades is an 18% nickel maraging steel, which is the same ultra high strength alloy used in rocket engines. With its high strength and low brittleness, you can make a case that maraging steel is the strongest metal in the world.

Hm...Maybe the guys at Prospect hill Forge (http://www.prospecthillforge.com/) or Metalwerx (http://www.metalwerx.com/)would be interested? They're in Waltham, next to one another.

I know some artists who will soon have access to heavy machinery shops in their backyard.
