Kitty Still Missing

Our kitty, Toro, is still missing.  I'm re-posting with some additional details and reward info.

Toro is a big, black, male cat with giant double paws. He is VERY friendly and loves treats and being petted. He was wearing an orange collar before he wandered off.

Toro went missing from our home in East Somerville (near Glen Street) on Sunday, Sept. 27.   He's been possibly spotted near Prichard Ave in Ball Sq, Ellington Rd & Willow Ave near Davis, and most recently toward the Davis end of the bike path.  Again, he's extremely friendly and approachable.   If you can get close enough to check for an orange collar, or better yet to catch him, we are offering a reward for his return.

Whoever finds Toro and returns him to us (alive) will get a REWARD of an Ipod Touch or cash equivalent ($299). If you are a do-gooder and refuse the award, we will donate that amount to an animal shelter or to a charity of your choice.

We think he's wandered too far from home to find his way back.  If you have any information, please call Mary Lu (617-480-8703) or Elizabeth (617-529-9102).  If you can't remember the number and you see him, just dial 311 (only works in Somerville) and give the information to animal control.

Thank you!!

I'm a sucker for double paws, I really hope you find him! And I'll keep my eye out, even though I'm a little far west for him to wander..I hope!

oh, poor thing. I haven't seen him since that morning near my house. I even put some food out in hopes that he'd come back, but alas I think I only succeeded in attracting the local raccoon. I hope you find him soon. And I'll definitely keep looking though.

Thanks everyone. Mud puppy - we got a couple calls about sightings in that area, and then yesterday we were told that one of the neighbors apparently owns a large, black, double-pawed kitty with an orange collar. I am super bummed out by this.

Maybe you could nicely ask the neighbor to keep their cat inside for a few days while you renew the search? Limit the number of giant black cats in the area? Good luck, I passed on the info to my DS friends :)

Thank you! I actually thought of asking the neighbor but then wondered if it was too obnoxious. Anyway, now that we know of that kitty it seems more likely that Toro is somewhere closer to home, so we're starting to focus on our own neighborhood.

I don't think it's too obnoxious, and I'm a fairly passive person. If they have a cat, chances are they'd be upset if their cat went missing too and would be sympathetic - it's worth asking really nicely about it.

I'm so glad he has a collar on! I will keep an eye out for him.

Poster heavily! This helped us find Abbie the Cat when he went walkabout in Somerville. Also, if you haven't, please make sure to call all the local animal shelters, etc.

His collar doesn't have tags, unfortunately - he keeps losing them, so I had just gotten replacements and was carrying them around for a week and kept forgetting to put them on. They're useless now, because when we find him we are NEVER letting him out again.

Keep in mind if he got into some adventures along the way, he might not still have his collar on (I'm assuming it's a breakaway?). When my cat escaped we found her collar in the woods near our house, and she was found about a mile away from that.

has this cat been found yet? I saw a black cat with a red or orange collar on Thorndike St. last night at around 6pm, but I couldn't get close enough to see if there were extra fingers. I don't want to call anyone because I am unsure if this is the cat I saw, as there are a number of outdoor cats in my neighborhood...

oh, and that was on the Holland street side of Thorndike.
