Indian Cookin Classes?

My friend from Chennai India is thinking about teaching cooking classes on healthy, vegetarian Southern Indian Cuisine out of her home. She lives just outside of Davis Square, near Tufts. I wanted to help her gauge interest from the community. She'd offer a four hour class for $50/person ($80/couple), food/materials included and of course you get to eat everything at the end!

If people are interested or have questions they can e-mail me at mberbeco at hotmail.com or respond to this posting.

If she can teach me how to properly make samosas, I'm definitely in - I swear being able to make that dough is genetic!

That sounds like fun. I would definitely think about signing up. What kind of dishes would she include?

I'm totally in. And fwiw, South Indian Cuisine is way different than Indian restaurant food (typically northern-style)

If you want some South Indian food, check out: http://www.thepongal.com/
Really tasty and covers a more wide range of food options in India.

My boyfriend and I would be very interested... and I third the samosas, we've tried multiple times and they just never come out right.

I'd point to Helen Rennie's classes (http://www.helenrennie.com) as a good example of what the market looks like in Boston. Disclaimer: Helen's a good friend of mine.

Her classes are consistently well filled, and she's been making a living doing it for a good few years now.

Take from this what you will.

I'd definitely consider it.

Interested, but scheduling might be tricky.

Interested.

But not during flu season.

I might be interested -- my schedule sucks so it might be unlikely to work out, but it sounds like fun. As a vegetarian, cooking classes that aren't mostly-irrelevant are few and far between.

My girlfriend and I would be interested.

Yes please! We'd sign up as a couple. Please post here or email me at snoopymel@yahoo.com. When would it be? I'd love to give it to him as an anniversary gift (which is next month!)
