Re: predictable

Both. I'm surprised that when I did a search for his name, all that came up were a couple of Newstalk items over the past year or so, all of which were smugly glowing like Newstalk can be (I forget the actual wording, but things like "...and we all know that Sen. Galluccio is a man who represents his district well..."). No news at all about his hit-and-run when it happened. No news at all about the Cambridge Police taxi service when that was made public. No news at all about his court visit and plea. Just a public statement from him apologizing. If one only got one's news from the Somerville News, they would have no idea what he was apologizing for.

Then, of course, there's the mean-spirited, nasty, childish "Newstalk" column, where anyone who is friends with the publishers gets a shout-out ("We hear that John Smith just got back from a great vacation with his family. He's a swell guy, and everyone in the world loves him!") and anyone they dislike has all sorts of innuendo and near-libel piled on them ("We hear that Princess Rebekah and her Queen Pat Jehlen drank the blood of young children in their basement last night while plotting with the Knights Templar to take over Somerville... and they say they're for INCLUSION?!?!?!"). I would like to think that, with all the nastiness they send towards one of Somerville's state senators for all kinds of trumped-up and imaginary slights, they'd have at least ONE unkind thing to say about the only state senator representing Somerville who has had three DUIs and a hit-and-run against a family of four in their minivan.

I know I'm being overly snarky, and while I know that most of us in this LJ community take their editorial positions with a truckload of salt, it still gets my dander up. Especially when said Newstalk column repeatedly calls the other paper in town an unprofessional rag.

*I have NO affiliation/friendship/Facebook-friendship/whatsoever with anyone at the Somerville Journal, FWIW.
