Galluccio news

Does anyone else find it odd (or predictable) that the Somerville News has essentially no news on Senator Galluccio's recent scuffles with the law? Seeing as they will pounce on Senator Jehlen if she happens to, say, sneeze without covering her mouth, I just find it interesting that the only item on this subject is the verbatim posting of Galluccio's public apology. Is there some long-standing story here that I'm missing? Is Galluccio old friends with the Nortons? Discuss.

It's the SOmerville News. They'll get around to it. January. Maybe.

Galluccio does only represent a tiny corner of the city (Ward 1 Precinct 1 and Ward 2 Precinct 1), as opposed to Jehlen, who represents all of the rest. But I do think you're right that there is a political bias there as well. If Galluccio was a pol Norton didn't like, he'd be all over the story.

And I don't recall the News paying much attention to Jarrett Barrios either, when he had that seat before Galluccio.

Jehlen SNEEZED? Better put some lipstick on that swine flu! You know, Castro never covered his mouth either... (This being the internet, I will be responsible and say THIS IS PARODY.)

You know who else didn't cover his mouth when he sneezed? Hitler!

In the past year or so I've never seen any news story that was especially negative about Sen. Jehlen. Is there a specific one you're referencing?

Are you surprised there aren't any actual articles on this or surprised he isn't getting dragged through the mud in Newstalk?

We're working on a story. It will probably be out before January.

I'd like to also see Galluccio also 'out before January'. The people of his district deserve better.

FWIW keep in mind the Journal is relying on reports about Galluccio from its Cambridge partner. That's what a quick scan of the bylines shows, at least. I may have missed something.

Knights of Templar and Sen. Jehlen? I think the best the Newstalkers could do recently was malign Alderman Gewirtz's lasagna. Did any of them actually try it? Doubtful.

I agree on your point that the poor souls only getting their news from the News are completely in the dark about Galluccio. The people responsible for going out and gathering the news aren't the ones maligning the Journal or Knights Templar meetings. I hope you shop local for salt.

Well, that makes sense, yes? It's not like the Somerville News would have to open a Cambridge bureau; they'd just have to make some phone calls.

The Cambridge Chronicle is all 'GALLUCIO RESIGN NOW' all the time. I think that 3/4 of the most recent issue's fornt page was Gallucio.

Sorry, I hit enter before I had either finished or proofread that comment. I meant to say "...recent issue's front page was Galluccio. It kind of made me want to read the Somerville News for a change."

I think Galluccio should resign and get residential treatment for alcohol addiction immediately. Not that he cares what I think, of course.
