Trolley Christmas Light Tour?

It's probably way too early to be asking this but I know at least one of you must know (looking at you, Ron! :) ... Anyone have the details for the Christmas Lights Trolley Tour this year? Is it still happening?

And I'm doing:
5pm Trolley B
6:15 Trolley C

That's different from what the SAC sent me a few weeks ago, so I guess some assignments have changed.

Yeah, the initial schedule that was sent was just last year's. I'm sure there have been plenty of changes.

Do you know if there will be a Tom Champion trolley this year?

[personal profile] ron_newman 2009-11-22 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not guiding a trolley, but I'll be at my usual post in the lobby of City Hall, selling tickets, maps, postcards, and anything else the SAC decides to sell that night.

My currently scheduled shift is 5:30 to 7:30 -- but that means I'll have to miss all of the above-listed trips, so I might change it.

In other holiday-themed news, Santa Claus is coming to Union Square on December 15th. Reliable sources at the North Pole say he looks remarkably like Tom Champion.

Also the Union Square Craft Market and Washington Street Art Center Fair, both on Saturday 12/5. I think the Somerville Museum is also having one that day, but I don't see it on their website.

So cool! That makes me wish I had some small children I could take to see him. Maybe I could borrow a couple?

But...but... what happens if it snows on Christmas Eve and he can't park his sleigh anywhere??

A question for anyone who knows:

How to get to City Hall by bus from Davis or Ball Square?

[identity profile] emcicle.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
88 bus goes down holland/broadway and drops off right near city hall...

Thanks much!

90 bus also runs between Davis and City Hall. 80 bus runs from Ball Square to the back of City Hall; you'll have to walk up the School Street hill.

(btw, the MBTA is now part of Google Maps, so you can ask for directions there 'by public transit' as opposed to 'by car' or 'walking')

Ooh, are you guys coming this year? Will you be on one of mine? :)

If I haven't left for the holiday by then, I really want to. (Because of the death in the family, I backed down on my no-holiday-travel decision and am going to Rochester if I can). If I can go on the lights tour, I'll try to get on one of your buses. :-)

I can't vouch for Mr. Wabbit, though. It's sort of not his thing!

From Davis, take either the 88 or the 90 and get off at School Street or the stop after. From Ball, take either the 89 (which runs straight down Broadway) or the 80 (which turns off onto Medford Street) and in either case, get off at School Street or thereabouts, and walk up the hill along School to Highland Avenue.

Might be a silly question

I think my son is old enough to enjoy this now (he'll be 2 1/2), I don't need a car seat to take him in the trolley, right? it's like a bus in that sense? Also, are any of the trolleys designated more "family friendly"? I figure we'd take an early one, like the 530...

The tours with singing tend to be more fun for little kids, but I'm not sure how you know in advance which tour guides will be singing or encouraging groups singing of carols.
