Illuminations ticket (7:30 Trolley A)

I have one extra ticket for the 7:30 Illuminations tour on Saturday night. It's Trolley A, which is rumored to be hosted by Tom Champion. I'd like to sell the ticket for face value ($10) and can meet you in the City Hall lobby before the tour for the hand-off or somewhere in Davis Square on Thursday or Friday.

If you don't get a taker here, I can almost assure you that someone will buy it from you at City Hall Saturday night. We always struggle to maintain waiting lists.

Just show up at City Hall well ahead of time and offer it to the first person who is waiting to buy a ticket. We always have plenty of people showing up looking for tickets. I'll be staffing the welcome table from 5:30 to 7:30 and trying to manage the waiting list there.

6:45 to 7 should work, based on my previous experience working this table over several years.

Given that it's a Tom Champion/Jimmy del Ponte ticket, I'm amazed someone hasn't already snapped it up.

Yes, come to our table. We can't buy your ticket back from you, but we can tell anyone who's waiting to buy a ticket to get it from you.

Hope this worked out well for you.

more trolleys

As someone who was not able to purchase a ticket this year and was told that it is always sold out, why don't they add more trolleys?

More trolleys means paying more drivers (who may not even be available) and recruiting more volunteers (ditto). The event is already stretched to the limit, with "D" trolleys added for some departure times this year.

doesn't the ticket price pay for the driver? I would assume most trolley drivers would be a-okay with some overtime pay this time of year.

I don't know anything about how this event works so I'll take your word that it is stretched to the limit. I'm just super bummed I'm not going to get to go.

Come to City Hall anyway. There are always cancellations and no-shows and people who want to re-sell their tickets. So come early and wait until one is available.

OR, go buy the ticket from the guy who's trying to sell it here! Save some hassle for you, and him, and me.

Mr Newman -- it looks like you're involved with the trolley tours. This might be the dumbest question, but are the trolleys heated at all? I am desperate to know, if they aren't, I just can't handle it, and need to plan on selling my tickets. Thank you!

Hello. Yes, I am a volunteer at the sales and welcome table each year. The trolleys are heated. (Sometimes heated too much, to the extent that the windows steam up and people have to wipe them off in order to see.)

Please stop by and introduce yourself as a fellow LJ'er if you arrive between 5:30 and 7:30 tomorrow evening.

Hey, I've always been able to get a ticket by showing up at City Hall - might be harder if you had a big group or something, but if it's just one or two of you and you're flexible, it's no problem!
