Baseball card shops in Somerville/Cambridge

After returning from the homestead for the holidays, I've finally grabbed most of my baseball card collection from oblivion in my mom's basement. I'm looking to repackage them in new cardboard cardholders (the long ones that hold several hundred at a time) and then taking my time going through them.

I asked the googles about local card shops, and one came up in Union Square, Major League Sports Cards, with an address of 11 Union Square. After about 15 minutes of aimlessly wandering around the square and not finding any address like that, I gave up. When I got home, the number listed through google (no website listed) was for some Canadian bond company, so... I'm thinking they don't exist.

Nothing else seems to be coming up nearby, but I also know that a lot of the smaller places probably live without a web presence. So, I thought I'd throw it to the crowd and see if anyone knows of a local place that sells sports cards and their storage accessories? I'd rather not have to shlep them from downtown Boston if I can help it, but that is always an option.

Thanks in advance!

The game shop in Meadow Glen Mall will be able to supply you with the goods. It is about a mile walk from Davis

would Your Move Games have the right size holders? (likely intended for other kinds of collectible cards)

While I don't know about that business, I think the numbered Union Square street addreses start on Somerville Avenue on the block west of the square, and increase going east through the center of the square. Online maps have trouble with those addresses.

Google Maps says it's more like 1.8 miles. Unfortunately there's no direct bus from Davis Square to that mall.

that far? wow, it has always seemed less. the only bus-way to get there is to take one from the orange line, not so convenient. its quicker to walk.

also, they are very friendly there.

You can take a bus (94 or 96) from Davis to Medford Square, and then another bus (134) from Medford Square to the mall, but I'd never do this.

What is the name of the store? I see this store directory, but many of the stores have no links or descriptions. (I think GameStop is just video games.)

It must be:
Harrison's Comics (781) 391-6111
It's right next to the hallway that leads to the restrooms and across the aisle from the used book store.

Guess I should learn more about this place -- I had no idea there was a used book store. That's a very unusual shop to have in a mall.

Even though it's less than 2 miles away it seems psychologically much further, because there's no bus and because it's across both the Mystic River and I-93.

Semi-related, anyone know if any of these shops carry those plastic display boxes for cereal boxes? I just got a second commemorative box for Christmas and not 10 minutes ago was thinking maybe I should do something better with them.

(I know I can probably find more info on this myself by googling, but hey, I JUST thought of it and then saw this post, so why not ask here, too!)

Oh, come on...

What is 1.8 miles? Really, you can do that in less than an hour, walking leisurely. OKAY, with this snow it's a bit harder, but not a biggie.

There's Card Dog down in the Fresh Pond area of Cambridge: 489 Concord Avenue, (617) 868-1990. I haven't gone in, just driven by. Google says it's about a 15 minute walk from Alewife Station.

(or a half hour walk from Davis Square)

Indeed, going there on foot (or even bicycle) is pretty unpleasant (and the underpass is especially creepy after dark), but there are some nice bits in the area if you do get over, including the big park along the river.

Yeah, I've patronized Card Dog and they would definitely fit the bill. Though it's a bit far from Alewife for foul weather.

You can also get the 78 bus from Harvard Square, which stops a minute's walk away.
