Seeking primary-care doctor recommendations

I have a non-LJ friend who is looking for a new primary-care physician:  a general practitioner who takes Blue Cross / Blue Shield.  If they're good with men's midlife health issues that would be a nice bonus, but the main criterion is that they should actually take you seriously when you report symptoms, and do a thorough diagnostic interview.

And they need to be T-accessible; no car.

I adore Dr. David Menon just outside of Union Square, but I don't know if he is taking new patients right now. Your friend could call and ask...

I too had very good experiences with Dr. Menon for a couple years, no problem, but... well, I don't want to go into it in a public forum, but he is a little odd, and one day he said some things that I found unprofessional and insulting, so I left, with many regrets.

Since then I've seen Dr. Gerard Coste in Cambridge, and I think he's just awesome. I'm a man coming up on midlife health issues myself, and have talked to him about some of these and he is super.

I hear good things about Dr. Pugh at the Marino Center in Cambridge, but I don't know if he's taking new patients.

Dr. Ottavio Nardone has been my physic for about 15 years. He's been great. Not sure if he's taking any new patients. He's in the North End on Hanover Street.

FYI....I began seeing Dr. Fishman at Somerville Family Practice a few years ago and like her a lot. She was recently named one of the 50 best doctors by Boston Magazine!
