Things to do with mum's in Feb

My mum is coming to town Feb. 6th, and I'd like to take her to some local cultural event: a show, play etc. Wondering if there are any suggestions of a mum-friendly event in the Square going on next weekend.

I'd say it depends on your mum. What's mum-friendly for mine might not be for yours.

LOL

Most restaurants are mum-friendly. She's human, right?

Her mum is human, but her stepmother is an alien.

Check the Somerville Theater listings?

And apropos of nothing, I like your icon. :)

Somerville Theatre has live shows listed for February 5 and 26, but not in between. (Unless your mom is unusual, I don't think I'd recommend the Science Fiction film marathon on February 14.)

Johnny D's always has cool shows, as does the Armory.

Can you tell us about how old your mum is, and what her tastes are in music and theatre?

There's always the [livejournal.com profile] davis_square bowling party on Feb 6. :-)

I like that idea! Especially if she's never seen candlepins before.

Not in Davis, but 2/6 is Sheep and Wool Day at the Wayland Farmers Market.
It's also Ronald Reagan's birthday, in case you celebrate (??)

They keep the farmer's market going through the winter in Wayland?

They have it at Russell's Garden Center. (http://www.russellsgardencenter.com/farmers_mkt.html) It's completely awesome.

Kristina Train is going to be at Johnny D's that night. She's good.

re: Wayland, yes this is the first year, and it's really a party! Very fun atmosphere, lots of farmers and other food, and you're in a greenhouse....so nice on a cold day!

How long is she staying? My ideas aren't in Davis, but may be worth checking out:

There's a poetry reading at CCAE on Monday night the 8th: http://www.ccae.org/catalog/detail.php?id=554374 (CCAE also has a lot of one-off classes, especially in the Food category, and in fact there are at least food-related one-time courses on the 6th!)
And Central Square Theater's next show, Not Enough Air, starts Feb 11. http://www.centralsquaretheater.org

I'm all out of other suggestions, and only have those ones cause that's where I work (plus, I haven't seen the light of day for like, six weeks, so I have no idea what else goes on in the world)!
