Brattle Theater

Hey everyone,

In case you haven't heard about the Preserve the Legacy campaign at the Brattle Theater, you can read about it at the linked webpage. In short, the 52 year history of the Brattle may be ending at the end of this year unless we can raise a significant chunk of money and really get community support. The Brattle is only a short 15 minute walk from Davis Square or an even quicker bus ride. I'm sure those that like in the Davis Square area (where I also live) would be impacted if this theater is forced to close.

If you have ever been to the Brattle, live or work in Cambridge or Somerville, love movies, or just really care about preserving a cultural institution, I'd encourage you to get involved.

Please read the webpage and look at the various fundraising events. Spread the word about the Brattle to your friends and family! Every little thing helps. Please leave a comment if you would like more info about anything.

I'm confident that with enough community support, we can save this theater that means so much to so many people.

What is it?

There's a house between Subway and Wing Zone on Elm that has a pole in the yard on which "May Peace Prevail on Earth" is carved in (at least three) different languages.

Is there a story behind that? Is it just decoration added by the owner, or is this a special place?
