Scientific research suggests very alarming climate changes, and that we are nearing “tipping points”. Paleoclimatic records suggest that we need to take strong, immediate action. How do we effectively communicate the climate challenge, mobilize stronger action by more people, and help our communities make the transition to safe, clean, renewable energy?

At this workshop you will receive training, background information, and electronic access to a Sustainability Institute PowerPoint presentation that you can use and incorporate for your own educational purposes.

Creative Expressions on Race, an afternoon of art and entertainment

Dear Neighbors,

Our congregation has taken up a project called "Sacred Conversations on Race" - thinking about and acting against racism in our congregation and in Davis Sq.

As a part of this work, we are hosting a program this Sunday afternoon, "Creative Expressions on Race," from 4-6 PM in our sanctuary at 89 College Ave.

We  will be presenting art, spoken word, and music by the following artists and activists:

Pete Shungu/Afro DZ ak
Elizabeth West
Vangile Makwakwa (of Speak2BFree)
Iyeoka Okoawo
First Church Children's Choir
Laura Ruth Jarrett
First Church Ensemble
Centro Presente Youth

We hope you will invite your friends, friends from work, your children's friends, your activist friends, your congress members, Representatives, City Alder(wo)men, and all who seek to make the world a just place.

Fabulous food will follow, catered by Michael Schulman, plus potluck food from the congregation. Some food will be vegan, some vegetarian, some fried chicken.

Suggested donation: $5

We'd love it if you'd join us for the afternoon at First Congregational Church.
