I'd love to be able to buy them already filled... hmm. I was thinking about a place like iparty but wasn't sure about this. I want just basic balloons, like so: http://artfarmla.com/blog/030309/ballons.png
Some grocery stores have balloons (usually the big grocery stores that have a flower shop inside) & are usually much cheaper than iParty to get them filled.
thank you thank you thank you! for some reason i had convinced myself shaw's didn't have them.. i think it's because i only shop there very irregularly (and not for months) and in my quick dashes, i never noticed them. i wonder if balloon boss or shaw's is cheaper.. hmm.
anyway--i think i'm set now. and hope to be able to make someone's day better. thanks again :)
This might sound silly, but it's the truth... My fiance and I are currently both pretty stressed out, overwhelmed and exhausted (between work for me and graduate school for him on top of planning a wedding in a short period of time, and then just general lifeness) and I thought this might cheer us up. I saw a picture in a blog I read where someone had filled a room with balloons for her husband's birthday and it seemed so fun. So I'm going to cook us a nice (but simple! too tired for anything beyond that..) dinner and fill a room with balloons and force us to take a night off. There's the not-very-short-but-shorter-than-it-could-be answer. :).
This is a great idea - and such a sweet thing to do. My sympathies with the wedding planning...it can be so frustrating. Just remember: no matter WHAT happens, you'll still be married at the end of the whole process :)
Oh and I also plan to make the strings just long enough that our cat can't reach them because I can't help but love to torture the adorable little ball of energy... I'm hoping for hours of amusement.
Just one small bit of advice: Walking down the street with a couple dozen helium inflated balloons is not as easy as it sounds. Driving in a car with a couple dozen helium inflated balloons is even less easy.
This is true. It won't even begin to cover the ceiling (which appears to me to be what was meant by "fill a room") unless the room is the size of a large closet.
Also, iParty is probably the most expensive possible place to get balloons.
