very random question

anyone have any ideas where i could get a swim cap? I am carless and home with a baby today, so being nearby or T accessible would be very good. I don't mind walking as far as say Porter or over to Alewife.... maybe citysports? Marshalls?

Update: Bought one at Citysports for $10, less the 20% coupon i had... Thanks all!

I don't have an immediate answer, but maybe I'll walk over to Family Dollar and ask there. Do we have a Marshall's in our neighborhood?

CitySports in Porter would be my bet.

There is a Marshall's (or something very similar) in one of the shopping plazas over past Alewife (on Alewife Brook Parkway).

That's a TJ Maxx -- although the same company owns both that chain and Marshall's.

I'm pretty sure there's also a sporting good store in the plaza past Alewife. I think it's Modell's.

There are two -- Olympia Sports is in the same plaza.

(BTW, if you walk there, go through Danehy Park off Sherman Street. Much more pleasant than walking over the Route 16 bridge)

There is a Marshall's in Somerville, in Twin City plaza, which you could get to by bus. Not quite in our immediate Davis neighborhood though.

I'd try a sports store like the one in Porter or the one in the fresh pond plaza first though.

I keep forgetting that store exists since you can't see it from the street at all. So many 'medium-box' stores have failed in that location, one after another -- Service Merchandise, OfficeMax, some guitar store, Bob's Store.

I'm pretty sure I've seen them at City Sports.

That's where I got my last one.

Yeah head to city sports or a sporting goods store, a marshalls or a tj maxx will not have one.

City Sports will definitely have a bunch of options. I also got a swim cap at CVS in Porter, but they only had one or two choices.

City Sports in Porter definitely has them. You can take the T, if you don't want to walk in the heat. They have both the traditional waterproof kind, and lycra caps (which are great if you want to swim someplace that requires a swim cap for long hair, but you hate the kind that pulls your hair when you take it off.) Obviously, a lycra cap will let the water in, because it's just made of swimsuit material.
