self storage

It's been a year since the last post asking: Who do you all prefer these days for self-storage? A climate-controlled unit is particularly necessary as we have both boxes of papers/books and wooden furniture. We will also need to get in periodically to find or sort things.

Bonus points if you can tell me about Space Self-Storage on McGrath, but I'll hear anything local. Thanks!

No recommendations for storage places, but if you'd like some help reducing the volume of the stuff you need to store (and thereby saving you money in the long run), see me at Find Your Floor (http://www.findyourfloor.org).

I use Extra Space Storage on Somerville Ave, and I think it's fantastic. Pricey, but it's clean, well maintained and equipped, and has the best access hours of any place I've checked (to 10pm 7 days a week). Very professional and helpful staff. ETA: And an indoor (sheltered!) loading area with automatic garage doors.

Extra Space Storage on McGrath is similar but no indoor unloading. It probably depends on which is closer to you.

Can you give me a rough estimate of the going rate for storage in the ville?

I'm renting the smallest size unit they have (5'x5'x8' I think) on the second (cheaper) floor and I'm paying about $110/mo.

I've used the Extra Space over in Everett. The prices are much better than the Somerville locations, and it isn't too hard to get there.
