Free Community Rooms in Somerville?

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for a community space that I could use for free to host a book club. Probably around 15 people total. Is there anywhere in Davis/beyond that could accommodate us?

Thanks again!

West Branch Library would be a good choice for this, if you can schedule your event for Monday or Thursday night (the only nights it is open), ending before 9 pm.

The Field House at Powder House Park might be available for this. I'd ask the Mayor's Office or 311 about how to schedule it.

Another possibility might be the community room at Ciampa Manor (senior citizen building on College Ave).

You could also ask some of the local churches - ie up and down College Ave. I know that some of them let community groups use their spaces for very modest donations. For example one group I'm in used to meet at the United Methodist church, and the cost was a couple bucks donation per person.

However, the United Methodist church isn't there any more -- it got sold to the Holy Bible Baptist Church (better known as 'the Haitian chuch')

I believe the Central Branch library (main) will now take community bookings. (617) 623-5000. Ellen Jacobs there handles the calendar. James

They're also REALLY REALLY NICE! :) I had such a great experience calling them trying to get something booked, but sadly the room didn't fit what I needed.
