Local furniture makers?

We've just built a patio and would love to get our outdoor furniture from a local (i.e., anywhere in MA/Southern NH/VT etc) maker. Any recommendations? Everything I've seen thus far is pretty high end, fancy, arty stuff - gorgeous, but not fit for comfy year-round lounging.

Thanks!

I've never purchased from them, but I've had a few people recommend http://www.bostonwood.com/index.html. I've seen their furniture and it is beautiful. The only thing is that most of it is sold unfinished. I've been told that you can pay extra for them to finish it or you can save some money and finish it yourself.

Check at the Caning Shoppe. They were able to tell us where everything was made, so we could get Gardner MA-made (indoor) chairs. And most of the greater gardner furniture outlets can direct you to what of their furniture is locally made, if you just want to go out there and look through the awesome warehouses.

Well, you're asking for furniture made in a high-expense area, it's gonna be hard to make something inexpensive there. (I'm not saying it's impossible, especially if the manufacturing can somehow be largely automated, but there are direct conflicts between your two goals.)

What about these folks on Beacon St.?

They carry more than bookcases; they make simple all-wood furniture to spec too, though I have only bought ready-made from them (unfinished).
