Yow! Nevermind Ikea - this is awesome!

But except on certain occasional 'Adult Only' nights, no adult can enter this place without an accompanying child.

But will they have meatballs?

Suddenly, finding someone to your kid off for an afternoon might be easier!

You went to a full Legoland amusement park. Those don't seem to have the same rule as the Discovery Centers. The Manchester UK Discovery Center also requires adults to have children with them. Assuming that I can trust Google Translate, this also appears to be required in Germany.

Only on "adult only" nights. ;-)

What? That's sad and unfair. Great for the kids I suppose.

[identity profile] bluesauce.livejournal.com 2013-07-30 11:17 am (UTC)(link)
That's discrimination. ;-)

Yeah, when this came up on Facebook, three of us immediately chimed in with "my kid is lendable!"

nooooo! what tragedy!

[identity profile] mzrowan.livejournal.com 2013-07-30 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I assume that's because of a fear of pedophiles.

This is great, Assembly Square is shaping up to be pretty cool. However I'm concerned that no office tenants have been signed up yet.

Yes, I agree with mzrowan. Most probably because they don't want pedophiles mingling w kids. When I visited the Boston Children's Museum with my husband and another couple to check out the giant climbing net (not sure what it's called) that a friend of theirs had conceived and installed, we all had to show our IDs and walk around with name tags! Too bad the new Legoland did not have that policy.

But some people just don't enjoy being in charge of kids and would much rather be able to freely go somewhere and not be tied to a child.
