McDonald's gone?

If I'm not mistaken, the McDonald's in Davis Square is gone. I've never heard of one closing before. Does anyone know what is planned for the space?

It's happened before. The Panera in Porter Square was a McDonalds just a few years ago.

Not only that, it's the second McDonalds to close in Davis Square. I've heard from another area business owner that a Korean Barbecue restaurant is interested in the space, but I'm not sure how close that is to happening.

The McDonalds at Meadow Glen Mall has also recently closed.

This happened way back at the end of October and was noted here on DSLJ at the time.
It's the second time McDonald's has closed in Davis Square.

The surprising thing about the McDonalds closing, besides how quickly it happened, was that it closed just a few months after the substantial indoor renovation. The owners posted on the older thread that the closure was because the lease was up, and they had "no plans to renew the lease due to lack of sales". I'm unclear as to why they put the money into renovating the entire interior if they had no plans to keep the place open more than another six months, max.

There was a McD's in Malden that closed a few years ago. It turned into a storefront dental practice of some kind. Made Malden Square much less inviting in terms of food, IMHO.

Can there be any question? Obviously a froyo joint.

A few major fast food chains have closed in central and harvard squares over the years as well.
