Tufts Football Night Game - Sept. 24th

I was checking out the Tufts football schedule for this season and noticed that the Sept. 24th home game is slated to start at 6 pm. Considering the games usually take 3 hours and need time (and lights) for overtime, that seemed off. Most Tufts games start between noon and 1:30.

I checked today... the field doesn't have any recently installed lights, but this tweet seems to confirm that the game will be a night game:

I expect a different vibe for the neighborhood with a night game. If successful, it might signal a change in the pattern for the future.

That's great! I love night games. They always feel more football like. This isn't the first time they've having a later game.

I know that they have done a couple of scrimmages against a league opponent before the season started, but they did those over on the practice field across campus. When have they ever done a late game at Ellis Oval? I've been to probably 2/3s of their games in the last 10 years and don't remember anything.

The latest they will go is about 4 pm and then they run out of light.

In the last 40 years I've gone to a number of games. I do think this 6pm game is the latest but they have had (like I said) later games in the past that didn't start at noon. Either way, I think this is great and I'm glad you shared the info with us. So exciting! I hope this is the first of many.
