Does anyone know anything about this guy?

He's been visiting us (and at least one other neighbor that we know of) for a couple of months around Union Square. He's very skinny, always ravenous, and occasionally has some scratches or a rash, so we assumed he's a stray. He's also unneutered, so maybe he's never had an owner.

We were thinking of taking him to a vet to get checked out. Does anyone have any idea whether or not he's had an owner or have any other useful information about him?

Where in Union Square? I don't know anything about him but I think I saw him walking down my street once. We have two cats that hang around our porch and yard and one had a pretty bad scratch a couple weeks ago...

He's usually near Market Basket on Lake. Occasionally, he does hang out with another stray that's all white (and pretty dirty).

Well, my girlfriend is interested in taking him, but the guy is afraid of coming inside the house. He does seem to get a little bit more comfortable with being indoors each time he visits, especially if food is offered, though.

However, the case may be that he's never lived indoors and will never be, so she may have to just be content with feeding him, and if we can get him to trust us enough, one day getting him to the vet.

If someone does end up taking him in, and there are other cats in the household, please be aware that strays may harbor diseases that could spread to other cats. We had a wonderful cat who died while still quite young from feline leukemia virus (FeLV). It would be a shame for an act of charity to have this kind of unforeseen consequence.
