would anyone happen to know how/where/if i might volunteer my time on christmas eve? i have the day free and would love to help out somewhere nearby (particularly at any women's/children's organizations) but haven't been able to find much luck on the internet.

-Pine Street Inn in Boston
- Salvation Army in Central Square, Cambridge.
Boston Cares (www.bostoncares.org) is a local organization that places volunteers where they are needed throughout the city.

If you can't find a place on short notice for Christmas Eve this year, consider volunteering on a different random day or night of the year. Many places get lots of volunteers for Thanksgiving and Christmas, which is nice, but they function 365 days a year and need volunteers for the other 363 days too.
