Somerville Open Studios this weekend

Somerville Open Studios are this weekend -- Saturday and Sunday, May 6 and 7, from noon to 6 pm.

This has become a such a huge and sprawling event that it's no longer possible to even think of trying to visit more than half of it. (343 artists! 100 locations! A 16-page map and guide!) So look up people you know, or just find a few neighborhoods to wander around. You'll have a good time.

Are any LJers exhibiting this year?

I'm site 49 just off Highland down near the hospital. Please come! I think I may be the only glass fuser this year--I do fused glass tableware, dishes and suchlike.

Fantastic, I loved your display last year. :)

I'm not (yet), but do you know where I could score one of the maps? Last year they were all over the place, but this year I checked the usual spots in Davis (bookstore, Diesel) and they had none. I need one--can't just wander around checking to see if there's studios in a building.

I believe Blue Cloud Gallery in Ball Square has them.

Thesis Show Invite

I know that Tufts is technically in Medford, but since it's pretty related to all things Somerville and to Davis Square I thought you guys might be interested. A group MFA Thesis Show just opened this week and there's some really great art there. The gallery is a little on the hard to find side since construction is in full swing around the building, so I'm trying to get visitors any which way I can! The gallery is open Tues. -Sun. 11-5 pm. For more info. go to the gallery website at : http://ase.tufts.edu/gallery/

I am a Somerville artist, and my contribution to this thesis show is basically my introduction to the community, so hello out there!
